If you have problems\u00a0establishing an FTP connection to your hosting account using FileZilla<\/a>, check out the information below to help you resolve your problem.<\/p>\n

Incorrect Password<\/h3>\n

If you do not enter the correct password for your hosting account, FileZilla produces the following error:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Response:<\/code><\/td>\n530 Login authentication failed<\/code><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Error:<\/code><\/td>\nCould not connect to server<\/code><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

To correct this issue, you need to reset your password (Web & Classic<\/a>\u00a0\/\u00a0cPanel<\/a>\u00a0\/\u00a0Plesk<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Incorrect User Name<\/h3>\n

If you do not enter the correct user name, FileZilla does not produce a unique error.<\/p>\n

However, if you are not sure of your hosting account’s user name, you can find it in your control panel (Web & Classic<\/a>\u00a0\/\u00a0cPanel<\/a>\u00a0\/\u00a0Plesk<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Incorrect DNS Information<\/h3>\n

Your domain name must point to your hosting account. This happens by pointing your domain name’s DNS A record to your hosting account’s IP address. If you don’t know precisely what that means, don’t worry. You can use this information to check the issue.<\/p>\n

To Check Your Domain Name<\/a>‘s DNS Information<\/h4>\n

  1. Find and note your hosting account’s IP address (Web & Classic<\/a>\u00a0\/\u00a0cPanel<\/a>\u00a0\/\u00a0Plesk<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  2. Check your domain name’s A record, and change it if necessary. For more information, see\u00a0Manage DNS zone files<\/a>. You are looking for the\u00a0A (Host)<\/strong>\u00a0record with\u00a0@<\/strong>\u00a0in its\u00a0Host<\/strong>\u00a0column. It should match your hosting account’s IP address.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Other DNS Connectivity Issues<\/h3>\n

    There might be other issues affecting your ability to connect to your hosting account using FileZilla that you can solve by using a different value as your\u00a0Host<\/strong>\u00a0in FileZilla.<\/p>\n

    Try entering the following as your\u00a0Host<\/strong>\u00a0in FileZilla, instead of your domain name (in each example, replace\u00a0coolexample.com<\/em>\u00a0with your domain name):<\/p>\n
